Simona Marotta
Simona Marotta is a Developmental Neuropsychomotor Therapist with postgraduate specialization in Neonatology, Neonatal Follow-up and Early Neurodevelopmental Intervention, and extensive clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of neuropsychomotor development during the first months and years of life.
Throughout her career, she has worked both as a private practitioner and in hospital and rehabilitation settings, gaining professional experience across healthcare services in Lazio and Basilicata. Her clinical work has focused particularly on preterm and full-term infants and young children, with special attention to the early identification of developmental atypicalities and the timely activation of targeted therapeutic pathways.
She has developed advanced skills in the observation of motor, sensory, relational and postural development during the first months of life, in the administration of standardized developmental assessment scales, and in the preparation of clinical reports for pediatricians, child neuropsychiatrists and families. She has also gained experience as a caregiver.
Her clinical approach is characterized by strong multidisciplinary integration. She has further developed her expertise in the care of newborns and infants through training in neonatal osteopathic approaches, integrating neuropsychomotor practice with manual techniques aimed at supporting neurofunctional development and early postural and sensory regulation. Her background also includes body-based support techniques and a holistic understanding of the child based on an integrated biopsychosensory model.
She has a particular interest in motor development, motor control and Human Performance, approached from an interdisciplinary perspective that includes movement, sport, the arts and neuroscience applied to human performance, with attention to different stages of development.
Alongside her clinical practice, she provides neuropsychomotor and educational support for children and adolescents with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD). She also provides academic tutoring for typically developing students and individualized preparation programs for entry into primary school, with interventions tailored to each child's cognitive, attentional, emotional and neurodevelopmental characteristics.
Her academic background includes a degree in Developmental Neuropsychomotor Therapy, completed with highest honors, followed by a postgraduate clinical-neonatology scholarship. She has also completed advanced training courses offered by the Italian Society of Neonatology (SIN) focusing on neurodevelopmental trajectories, neonatal clinical priorities and early neurodevelopmental interventions.
In parallel, she has undertaken university studies in pharmaceutical sciences, completing coursework in Industrial Pharmacy and fundamental biomedical disciplines, further broadening her scientific background in physiology, biology and pharmacology.
Over the years, she has combined clinical practice with educational and scientific dissemination activities through the development of professional materials, publications and early screening tools dedicated to neuropsychomotor observation during the first months of life. She is the author of early developmental observation tools and educational materials focused on early neuropsychomotor intervention and the prevention of developmental atypicalities, contributing to the promotion of early developmental care.
